FAQ

What is Surface by Steela made from?

Our surfaces are made entirely from natural minerals including quartz, feldspar and clay to create a surface that is sleek yet highly durable.

Unlike quartz-based engineered stone products, our surfaces don’t contain any bonding agents or resins. Instead, products are bonded replicating the natural process that takes thousands of years – we compress the raw materials under a weight of 400 tons of pressure and then subject it extreme heat of over 1400 degrees Celsius.

Our surfaces look and feel natural because they are comprised of entirely natural materials and are made replicating nature’s process.

Benefits of sintered stone?

Unlike surfaces such as marble and granite, our surfaces are not mined from the ground. Instead, they are made by applying extreme heat and weight to natural minerals such as quartz, feldspar and clay, which means the product is natural, safe with a significantly reduced environmental impact.

Our surfaces are highly durable and resistant to water, heat, scratching, stains and UV, and do not require special cleaning products like naturally produced stone. This means not worrying about ruining your beautiful surface by putting hot pots or hair straighteners on your surface or getting toothpaste or red wine it – life’s too short to not be able to use your surface for precisely what it was intended for.

Our surfaces are perfect for kitchen and bathroom countertops, splashbacks, flooring, internal wall cladding, fireplace hearths and more.

Our products look and feel like naturally occurring stone, unlike other engineered stone that most often don’t look authentic.

Is sintered stone subject to the bans on engineered stone in Australia that come into force on 1 July 2024?
